Early Life:

Zac was born in Leesburg, Virginia and moved around the United States as the son of a construction worker. His family settled in St. Petersburg, Florida and this is where he began his formal training in Martial Arts. Zac moved to Morrison, Colorado with his father continuing his martial arts training and eventually graduated from Bear Creek High School. Zac joined the United States Army in 1995 as an Indirect Fire Infantryman and was Honorably Discharged in 2000. Zac continued to train in numerous martial arts systems during this time. He moved to Louisiana and in 2001 began his Law Enforcement career. 

Law Enforcement:

Zac began his Law Enforcement career with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Department Corrections Division in 2001 while temporarily living in Rapides Parish, LA. He moved to Vernon Parish, LA and began work with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Department first serving in Corrections and then Patrol. Zac attended and graduated from the 51st Session of the Alexandria Regional Police Academy and in 2002 began work as a Patrol Officer with the Leesville Police Department. During his time with the Leesville Police Department Zac has served in Patrol, SRT (Team/Team Leader), Criminal Investigations (Investigator and Supervisor), Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor and Professional Standards. In 2019 Zac resigned from the Leesville Police Department as a full-time officer and transitioned to Part-time serving in a training and professional Standards capacity. He accepted a full-time position with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Department of the Army Civilian Police Fort Polk (Fort Johnson), LA as a Military Police Detective and currently serves as A Supervisory Detective over the Military Police Investigations Division. Along with his Detective assignment he is responsible for the Defensive Tactics Instruction for all Military Police Officers both Service Member and Civilian for Fort Johnson, LA and instructs on a regular basis throughout the year on the installation.

Zac has focused his law enforcement career on training and investigations. He has received Law Enforcement instructor certifications in PPCT Defensive Tactics Instructor, Louisiana POST FBI Instructor Development, SSGT Defensive Tactics Instructor (since 2004), SSGT Edge Weapons Survival Instructor, SSGT Equalizer Instructor, Gracie Survival Tactics Level 1 Instructor, Louisiana POST Firearms Instructor, LASER Active Shooter Instructor, SSGT Advanced Handgun Operator Instructor, SSGT Vanguard Instructor/Equalizer Instructor Trainer.

Martial Arts:

Zac has been involved with Martial Arts and Self Defense training his entire life having started informal training in Boxing and wrestling with his father at age 5. His formal martial arts training includes Yoshukai Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Freestyle Kenpo Karate, American Kenpo Karate, S.O.C.P. and is a blue belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu under the Gracie Academy. He has earned civilian Instructor certifications in C.R.A.S.E. Instructor, NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, IDS Level 1 Affiliate Instructor and Louisiana Concealed Carry Instructor. He is the founder of Cover Six Self Defense Solutions LLC, in Leesville, LA where he currently trains and offers customized self-defense training solutions for clients ranging from Law Enforcement, Military and Civilian.
